The Animation Show

Renowned animators Mike Judge (the Milton shorts that "Office Space" is based on) and Don Hertzfeld ("Rejected") present "The Animation Show," a collection of some of the greatest animated films from around the world. MTV2 currently has a feature up, where you can learn more and watch some of the videos. The network is also featuring two half-hour specials of the big show on air. In case you missed the first showing from 1/13 (I know I did...what's up with not sending out the email until 1/16?). The official The Animation Show website reports:

Hi Folks,

We’ve got great news for your weekend enjoyment. The Animation Show is coming to a television near you this Saturday for a very special engagement. Tune in Saturday (January 13th) at 5:00pm to catch two half hour episodes of incredible animation only on MTV2. This will be shorts from the first and second theatrical tours, with a sneak peak at what’s in store for the third tour.

A decade ago MTV rocked independent animation on a regular basis with Liquid Television and Cartoon Sushi. The Animation Show is proud to bring back some of that love back to MTV2.

Check it out and tell us what you think.

(these two episodes will repeat at the following times)
1/15 - 3am
1/19 - 10am
1/22 - 1pm

And that's not all! The main event is set to kick off its third annual tour. Check the dates and drop by if you can for what is sure to be a disturbingly good time. Finally, peep the trailer for Year 3 here and scope out the site to learn more about the films that will be presented and to buy tickets.

MTV2 Drops New Music

Thanks to some easy to come by 'inside information' in the form of publicly available email alerts, I just found out about MTV2's The Drop. The deal is, they give you 3 new songs by a different artist every week and sweeten the deal with artist info and music videos. This week's feature is the epic U.K. band Muse, while past weeks have featured the likes of Switchfoot, Incubus, and Shiny Toy Guns.

Listen to, "Map of the Problematique," "Starlight," and "Knights of Cydonia," and check out the videos for the latter 2 over at The Drop right now.
