See Evanescence and Korn for $10

What you say? That's right, folks, the package deal of the summer is good fun for the kids and their friends. You just can't beat that good old fashioned Family Values. The aforementioned headliners (gee, do you think Amy will come out for "Freak On A Leash" and/or perform her band's cover of "Thoughtless"?) will be joined by Flyleaf, Atreyu, Hellyeah, and Trivium. On a side note, 'Hellyeah,' must be one of the most superfluously kickass names for a band I have heard in some time. It's like my idea to name my son 'Awesome,' but that's a different story. Back to the tour, because it gets even better:

Through Korn's partnership with Live Nation, the 2006 tour offered concertgoers lawn tickets priced at $9.99 for all amphitheater dates. This year's edition of Family Values will offer similar pricing.
Now I can really get a Hellyeah! It's not quite as sweet as OZZfest's free ticketing, but it's pretty dang close (and preferable for those of who are ever so slightly less metal).

Take it away Billboard.com:
Here are the cities for the Family Values tour:

St. Louis
Minneapolis
Chicago
Columbus, Ohio
Camden, N.J.
Boston
Washington, D.C.
Hartford, Conn.
Buffalo, N.Y.

Toronto
Pittsburgh
Scranton, Pa.

The Fray Keep Touring, Ok Go!

Piano rockers The Fray are ready to melt your hearts while also inciting you to dance. What else could you expect from their newly announced summer tour featuring Ok Go? Well that's the first leg of it anyway. You second leggers will get to be treated to the docile sounds of Gomez and Eisley, while the third leg will see Meese and an act TBD join Isaac Slade and co.

There is no doubt things are going brilliantly for the Denver-based quartet. Among their recent highlights include double platinum certification for "How to Save A Life," and as if that weren't enough, the LP has become the number 1 selling digital album of all time, having just passed Coldplay's "X&Y." Check TheFray.Net for more.

And for your aural and visual pleasure, here are some Fray goodies to spoil yourselves with:

Acoustic Performance On Stripped (features a cover of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby")

Live@VH1 Acoustic

AOL Sessions

Network Live: The Fray In Concert

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention OK Go, recent Grammy winners for best short-form music video, but then again was there really ever any doubt about this? You can actually hear lead singer Damian Kulash's full acceptance speech by going here.

Finally, finally (really) the ever inventive visual minimalists in OK Go bring you their latest creation, this time for "Do What You Want (Wallpaper Version)". For those of you who have come to love the band's straightforward, quirky, and highly danceable style, you'll love this:

Runnin' with the Devil - The VH tour with Dave is ON!

Following up on the reported Van Halen reunion, MTV News today exclusively quotes Eddie Van Halen himself as saying, "Playing these timeless hits only works with Dave." Here's the latest:

Van Halen's long-rumored reunion tour with original singer David Lee Roth came one step closer as ink dried on the final contracts Friday (February 2). The tour will feature Roth alongside founding members Eddie and Alex Van Halen, with Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen (who recently replaced Michael Anthony), on bass.
The long-awaited and much anticipated Diamond Dave-led VH will mark the first time the band has performed together since 1984 (both the year and the album). MTV notes that dates are still being worked out, but the tour is expected to hit 40 cities this summer. To acknowledge this rock n' roll event, Eddie said it best:
"I am very excited to get back to the core of what made Van Halen," Eddie added.
More info will be posted here as it becomes available.

Breaking News: It's Panama! VH to Reunite, Tour!

It's been a theme lately. First you have your rampant Police reunion rumors, then there's the news that Coachella will be full of Rage, now it seems that the constantly reshuffled Van Halen is getting into the act. Billboard gives us the scoop:

Sources tell Billboard.com a contract could be signed as soon as today for Live Nation to produce a 40-date amphitheatre tour by Van Halen this summer, with original frontman David Lee Roth back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years.

As previously reported, guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 15-year-old son Wolfgang has stepped in for original bassist Michael Anthony in the new incarnation of the group, which also features drummer Alex Van Halen.
Anyone who remembers the unfortunate experiment that was Van Halen III, starring Gary Cherone (we love you in Extreme, Gary, but not in VH), should be particularly hopeful that redemption is, in fact, quite close. Rolling Stone further reports that the band has been rehearsing without Roth and working on material for a new album (which would be the band's first since Van Halen III in 1998). Meanwhile, any concerns about the aptitude of new VH bass player and Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, can be alleviated:
The Van Halen brothers say they’ve been inspired by Wolfgang’s youth and energy — and that he’s changed the sound of the band. “Wait until you hear this kid play,” says Eddie. “I pick him up from school every day and we jam. We’ve got a shredding bass player now that’s laying down the law for Alex, so I get to weave in and out."
There is, of course, still the issue about exactly what will go down (and what won't) when Van Halen is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March. No one really knows what representation of Van Halen will be performing, but Hagar, at the very least, is ready to make the best of it. Check out the RS article for full coverage.

So now the only question is, when can we buy tickets?

Early 2007 Tour Blitz

Hey, we just nailed the albums, so let's take a quick look at some off-the-cuff tours that may be swinging by your area in the near (or not so near) future:

Apples in Stereo They should bring Colbert on the road
The Beach Boys, still goin' strong
Blue Man Group (rock tour)
Connor Oberst a.ka. Bright Eyes
Indie up-and-comers - Cold War Kids
Crosby, Stills, Nash (and their different permutations)
The Decemberists
Evanescence, Finger Eleven, and Chevelle (are you kidding me? That's intense)
Gomez (with O.A.R. on select dates and Ben Kweller on select dates)
Heaven and Hell, which sports the likes of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice.
Rock Gods (or is it just a demon) Incubus
The goth-y yet operatic My Chemical Romance

Then of course you've got your package tours - Jägermeister Music Tour (this year featuring Stone Sour, Lacuna Coil, and Shadows Fall). Take Action (with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, et al), Taste of Chaos (with The Used, 30 Seconds to Mars, Senses Fail, et al).

For more concert goodness, peruse Pollstar.com's listings for your favorite artist, venue, or just see who's strolling around town in the next few weeks.

You couldn't forget about this year's Coachella if you for some deranged reason wanted to, but needless to say, without naming the hundred or so bands performing, it's one of the best possible lineups for a musical weekend that anyone could possibly dream of.

For you NYC types (like moi) you can take a shortcut over to Krock2's concert calendar. For all your ticket needs, Live Nation has you covered (although not against TicketBastard fees, why exactly is there a $13 convenience charge ?)

Which bangin' tour are you going too, or what did I miss? Hit it up in the comments!
