Movie Preview: "300"

Go tell the Spartans, you who read;
We took their orders, and are dead.

Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, "300" is the story of the Battle of Thermopylae, the most important battle in all of history.

The film brings Frank Miller's ("Sin City") graphic novel to the silver screen by combining live action with computer generated backgrounds that encapsulate his unique vision of this ancient historic event.

This movie will bring to the masses one of the most discussed battles in military classrooms throughout the world, the battle of Thermopylae. This tale tells the story of 300 Spartans who stood against roughly 150,000 Persians. (We do not actually know how many Persians there were.) Unlike today, where there is an actual Greek army and a unified Greece, at that time there were small independent city states, which needed time to call up and organize an army. If the Spartans had failed to hold back the Persians, then the Persians would have routed ancient Greece and destroy everything it had created, including democracy, and would have completely changed history.

This movie is rated R and is considered an action movie. It should be great.
